Tumour deposits are a significant prognostic factor in gastric cancer: A systematic review and meta-analysis
Histopathology Nov 04, 2018
Martínez CG, et al. - Researchers evaluated the relevance of tumor deposits (TDs) in prognosis for patients with gastric cancer. They performed a literature search to identify studies providing data on TDs and prognosis in gastric cancer patients. In patients with gastric cancer TDs were seen to be independent predictors of prognosis, including TDs in the staging of gastric cancers was suggested. In both univariate and multivariate analyses, they noted an association of TDs with a reduced OS. Moreover, an association of TDs with known prognostic influences, such as synchronous metastatic disease, invasion depth, lymph node metastasis, lymphatic invasion, vascular invasion and poor differentiation was seen.
