Tumoral venous invasion after distal pancreatectomy: A risk factor for recurrence

Joliat GR, et al. - REsearchers performed a comparison of survival and recurrence rate (RR) after distal pancreatectomy for adenocarcinoma in patients with and without tumoral venous invasion (VI). Analysis of 45 consecutive distal pancreatectomies (2000–2015) [33 patients had ductal adenocarcinomas and 2 had cystadenocarcinomas] revealed no effect of VI on postoperative complications. Survivals were similar in case of VI or not. However, the VI group demonstrated higher RR.
