Tumor infiltrating lymphocytes and colorectal cancer survival in African American and Caucasian patients
Cancer Epidemiology, Biomarkers & Prevention May 21, 2018
Wallace V, et al. - Given that African Americans (AAs) with colorectal cancer (CRC) have poorer survival than Caucasian Americans (CAs), especially younger age patients and a robust lymphocytic reaction within CRCs is strongly associated with better survival, experts evaluated if immune response impacts the disparity in CRC survival. As per data, in survival, the lymphocytic reaction in tumour impacted the racial disparity. The importance of the lymphocytic score on survival was confirmed in the findings and the need to fully characterize the immune environment of CRCs by race was highlighted.
