Tumor expression of calcium sensing receptor and CRC survival
International Journal of Cancer Sep 05, 2017
Momen-Heravi F et al. - In the current study it was shown that higher tumor calcium sensing receptor (CASR) expression was associated with a lower risk of CRC-specific mortality.
Methods
The levels of CASR expression in tumor specimens was determined by immunohistochemistry in 809 CRC patients.
Results
Compared to patients with no or weak expression of CASR, the HRs for colorectal cancer-specific mortality were 0.80 in patients with moderate CASR expression and 0.50 in patients with intense CASR expression; the corresponding HRs for overall mortality were 0.85 and 0.81, respectively.
