Tumor complexity and the impact on MIC and trifecta in robot-assisted partial nephrectomy: A multi-center study of over 500 cases
World Journal of Urology Feb 02, 2018
Ubrig B, et al. - Herein, the researchers aimed to assess the usefulness of robot-assisted partial nephrectomy for complex renal masses, comparing the low/intermediate risk with the high-risk tumors according to the PADUA score. They found that in both, the high and low complexity groups, the complication rates, histopathology results as well as quality criteria as indicated by MIC (margin, ischemia, complications) and trifecta were similar. Hence, even in the highly complex tumors, robot-assisted partial nephrectomy was found to be a safe and useful option.
