Tumor biology predicts pathologic complete response to neoadjuvant chemotherapy in patients presenting with locally advanced breast cancer

Annals of Surgical Oncology Nov 09, 2017

Gentile LF, et al. - The rates of pathologic complete response (pCR) in locally advanced breast cancer (LABC) patients are presented, and factors predictive of pCR to determine if responding patients might be suitable for limited surgery are determined. In the current study it was shown that pCR after neoadjuvant chemotherapy (NAC) was observed in 25% patients with LABC, independent of T or N stage. Tumor biology, but not extent of disease, predicted pCR.
