Tube feeding during treatment for head and neck cancer â Adherence and patient reported barriers

Brown T, et al. – An observational study was conducted to evaluate the incidence of patient adherence to nutritional tube feeding recommendations in patients with head and neck cancer. Investigations suggested that early tube feeding could improve patient adherence to clinically indicated tube feeding during treatment. Probably low adherence was the cause for clinically significant weight loss despite intensive nutrition interventions. Thus, optimising symptom management and strategies were required to improve adherence.
