Tubal ligation and ovarian cancer risk in African American women
Cancer Causes and Control Sep 09, 2017
McNamara C et al. - In the current study, tubal ligation was shown to confer a reduced risk for epithelial ovarian cancer (EOC) among African American women.
Methods
The association between 597 invasive ovarian cancer cases and 742 controls of African American descent was determined.
Results
An inon-significant nverse association was shown to exist between tubal ligation and EOC.
An inverse association with EOC risk was shown to exist among women who had a tubal ligation at 35 years of age or older (OR 0.64).
A strong inverse association was observed for endometrioid tumors (OR 0.31), whereas associations with mucinous (OR 0.87) and serous (OR 0.94) tumors were not statistically significant.
