Triple-row technique confers a lower re-tear rate than standard suture bridge technique in arthroscopic rotator cuff repairs
Arthroscopy May 06, 2021
Tanaka M, Hanai H, Kotani Y, et al. - This study was intended to correlate the structural and clinical results between the knotless suture bridge (SB) and triple-row (TR) techniques. Researchers conducted a retrospective study including 212 shoulders with repairable rotator cuff tears treated with the SB technique and 206 shoulders treated with the TR technique. They used Sugaya’s classification to classify the re-tear pattern. They further evaluated the function of all patients preoperatively and 2 years postoperatively by the American Shoulder and Elbow Surgeons shoulder index and the University of California at Los Angeles rating scale. In comparison with the use of the SB technique, the use of the TR technique in ARCR resulted in a lower large-size re-tear rate. There were no clinical differences in the outcomes between the 2 groups.
