Trichloroacetic acid (80%) as a chemical debridement method for chronic venous leg ulcers - A pilot study
International Wound Journal Jan 25, 2018
Pinheiro RR, et al. - This paper was designed in order to investigate the role of 80% trichloroacetic acid (TCA) solution as a chemical debridement technique for leg ulcers, in terms of efficacy and procedure-associated pain. The advantages of TCA over mechanical debridement were as follows: It served as a more selective debridement method, displayed haemostatic properties, and presented as a simpler and rapid application. Findings exhibited that the 80% TCA solution could be a cheap, simple, and relatively less-painful chemical debridement method for venous leg ulcers than the classical mechanical debridement.
