Trichloroacetic acid 35% as a therapeutic line for localized patchy alopecia areata in comparison with intralesional steroids: Clinical and trichoscopic evaluation
Journal of Cosmetic Dermatology Oct 17, 2020
Mahgoub DA, et al. - In this investigation involving 22 patients with two patches of alopecia areata, researchers sought to assess the effectiveness of a chemical peel trichloro acetic acid (TCA 35%) in comparison to intralesional corticosteroids (ILCs). In two randomly chosen patches, two treatment modalities with ILCs and topical TCA 35% were carried out. In spite of the slower response compared to ILCs, topical TCA 35% is an effective and safe treatment for the treatment of AA without serious side effects.
