Triage in Emergency Department Early Warning Score (TREWS) is predicting in-hospital mortality in the Emergency Department
The American Journal of Emergency Medicine Feb 21, 2019
Lee SB, et al. - In this retrospective observational cohort study that included 81,520 consecutive emergency department (ED) patients, researchers examined the adequacy of the National Early Warning Score (NEWS) in the ED. Further, they assessed the utility of the Triage in Emergency Department Early Warning Score (TREWS) that has been developed using the NEWS in the ED. Outcomes supported the superiority of TREWS in predicting in-hospital mortality within 24 hours, 48 hours, 7 days, and 30 days vs the NEWS, Modified Early Warning Score (MEWS), and Rapid Emergency Medicine Score (REMS) for patients arriving at the ED.
