Trends in US hospitalizations for anaphylaxis among infants and toddlers: 2006 to 2015
Annals of Allergy, Asthma, and Immunology Oct 11, 2020
Robinson LB, Arroyo AC, Faridi MK, et al. - Researchers conducted the study for identifying the trends and predictors of hospitalization for anaphylaxis among infants and toddlers. From 2006 to 2015, the nationally representative National Inpatient Sample (NIS) was used to perform an analysis of trends in US hospitalizations for anaphylaxis among infants and toddlers (age, < 3 years) and other children (aged, 3 to 18 years). There was no significant change in anaphylaxis hospitalizations during the 10-year study period among infants and toddlers. Anaphylaxis hospitalizations among infants and toddlers in the United States were constant from 2006 to 2015, while hospitalizations among older children were increasing. In the understudied population of infants and toddlers, future research should concentrate on the patterns in disease prevalence and healthcare utilization.
