Wilderness & Environmental Medicine Sep 15, 2017
Stanford KA, et al. - The data and trends in soft tissue injuries were elucidated in this paper, which presented as the second-most common type of injury, among participants in the National Outdoor Leadership School expeditions from 1984 to 2012. Decreased incidence was determined of the soft tissue injuries associated with the most common activities, over this 28-year period. The incidence of activity-independent injuries did not exhibit prominent alterations, but reported decreased severity. The yielded findings assisted in improving the wilderness risk management for institutions and individuals. The areas, in which educational efforts could further reduce risk, were presented.
