Trends in response rate and survival in small-cell lung cancer patients between 1997 and 2017
Lung Cancer Apr 29, 2019
Lattuca-Truc M, et al. - Researchers ascertained in this research involving 529 patients, of whom 498 received the first line of chemotherapy and 279 the second line, whether small-cell lung cancer (SCLC) response to chemotherapy and survival had changed over time. This investigation compared the response from 1997 to 2017 to chemotherapy and survival. In 1997–2009, the objective response rate to 1st-line chemotherapy was 74% and in 2010–2017, 71%. Median survivals in metastatic patients were 8.6 months and 8.9 months respectively. Findings revealed that the survival or response rate of SCLC patients to chemotherapy has not improved since 1997. New approaches are desperately needed in this setting.
