Trends in racial/ethnic and nativity disparities in cardiovascular health among adults without prevalent cardiovascular disease in the United States, 1988 to 2014
Annals of Internal Medicine Mar 24, 2018
Brown AF, et al. - The purpose herein was to investigate the U.S. trends in racial/ethnic and nativity disparities with regard to the cardiovascular health among adults aged 25 years or older. A decline was reported in the cardiovascular health in the United States. Findings revealed that the racial/ethnic and nativity disparities persisted, and decreased disparities were possibly attributed to worsening cardiovascular health among whites rather than gains among African Americans and Mexican Americans. Hence, a necessity arose for multifaceted interventions in order to address declining population health and persistent health disparities.
