Trends in population-based incidence and prevalence of juvenile idiopathic arthritis in Manitoba, Canada

Shiff NJ, et al. - Researchers examined the incidence, prevalence, and trends in estimates of juvenile idiopathic arthritis (JIA) among 455 patients aged < 16 years in Manitoba, Canada, between 2000 and 2012. Prevalence estimates were 65.33 and 59.61 in 2000-2001 and 2010-2011, respectively. Sex- and age-adjusted incidence estimates were 14.01 in 2000-2001 and 9.18 in 2010-2011. A significant reduction in prevalence but no statistically significant change in incidence was reported over the study period. A drop in both prevalence and incidence was observed for males in sex-stratified models.
