Gynecologic Oncology Dec 10, 2021
Shin DW, Bae J, Ha J, et al. - Researchers sought to describe the 20-year trends in incidence and survival of vulvar cancer in Korea using data from the Korean Central Cancer Registry.
During the 1999–2018 period, vulvar cancer was diagnosed in a total of 2,221 patients, with an age-standardized incidence rate of 0.32 per 100,000 person-years.
Korea showed a different pattern of incidence of vulvar cancer from that observed in the US and Europe.
There appeared a relatively low and stable incidence of squamous cell carcinoma.
An increase was observed in incidence of basal cell carcinoma and Paget's disease.
No improvement in survival occurred in the past two decades.
After surviving for 5 years, the patients can be considered cured.
