Trends in cardiometabolic risk factors in the Americas between 1980 and 2014: A pooled analysis of population-based surveys

Researchers did a pooled study of population-based investigations (n = 398) included data on anthropometric measurements, biomarkers for diabetes, and blood pressure from individuals aged 18 years or older to investigate the transition in BMI, obesity, blood pressure, elevated blood pressure, and diabetes in the Americas, between 1980 and 2014. Estimations also exhibited a high level of heterogeneity in the transition between countries, irrespective of the common high predominance of cardiometabolic risk factors across the Americas. They founded that to deal with these public health challenges, the rising predominance of obesity and diabetes noted over the time needed relevant measures. Moreover, over subregions and countries, finding encourage diversification of health interventions.
