Researchers observed a non-negligible prevalence of and progression to hepatic fibrosis within 3 years in patients with T2DM. Differently from nonalcoholic fatty liver disease, the Fibrosis-4 score seemed to have inverse correlation with insulin resistance and appeared to increase independent of classic metabolic factors.
