Trend of subsequent epilepsy in children with recurrent febrile seizures: A retrospective matched cohort study
Seizure - European Journal of Epilepsy Aug 31, 2018
Tsai JD, et al. - This retrospective matched cohort study draws on data from a nationwide cohort database to examine trends in subsequent epilepsy in children with a history of recurrent febrile seizure (FS). Participants in the study were 10,210 children with FS. The findings from the present study suggested that FS might increase the risk for subsequent epilepsy in children. Researchers found that recurrent FS increased the cumulative incidence of epilepsy. They observed that FS were more susceptible to subsequent epilepsy when preexisting neurodevelopmental comorbidities are present.
