Bettinger D, et al. - The experts embraced this study to examine the effect of proton pump inhibitors (PPI) treatment on mortality in patients with pyogenic liver abscesses. Findings revealed that PPI treatment was correlated with higher index mortality in patients with pyogenic liver abscess. Thus, critical evaluation of the indication for PPI treatment was particularly important in patients at high risk for pyogenic liver abscess.
