Cancer Causes and Control Aug 24, 2017
Pagedar NA et al.
Summary - Based on the current study, radiotherapy with or without chemotherapy (RTC) was shown to be the most common treatment for oropharyngeal carcinoma (OPC), even though RTC may not yield the best outcomes.
Methods
A population-based determination of the outcomes in patients with OPC treated with radiotherapy, surgery, and chemotherapy in 1997, 2004, and 2009 was conducted.
Results
RTC was administered more often in 2009 than in 1997, and was more commonly used in patients with stage IV OPC.
RTC was not an independent risk factor for mortality compared with surgery.
