Treatment-resistant depression and suicidality
Journal of Affective Disorders Apr 07, 2018
Bergfeld IO, et al. - Researchers sought for the incidences of the attempted and completed suicide in treatment-resistant depression (TRD) patients after initiating a treatment. In addition, they assessed if specific treatments increase or decrease these incidences. They noted a high incidence of attempted and completed suicide incidences (0.47 and 4.66 per 100 patient years respectively). However, no difference in incidences was evident between three end of the line treatments (deep brain stimulation, vagal nerve stimulation or electroconvulsive therapy).
