Treatment outcomes of anti-neutrophil cytoplasmic autoantibody-associated vasculitis in patients over age 75 years: A meta-analysis
American Journal of Nephrology Mar 18, 2020
Morris AD, et al. - Researchers undertook this study among patients with anti-neutrophil cytoplasmic autoantibody-associated vasculitis (AAV) [(aged ≥75 years), recruited from 2 centres], to define the outcomes of induction immunosuppression in these patients. Follow-up to 2 years or death was conducted. The relevant outcome studies involving this patient group were also identified from Pubmed, Cochrane and Embase databases, from inception until October 16, 2019, and were analyzed in a systematic review. According to the findings of the meta-analysis, a significant survival benefit was afforded by induction immunosuppression in patients ≥ 75 years with AAV. It was recommended that age alone should not be a limiting factor when considering therapy.
