Journal of Pediatric and Adolescent Gynecology Jan 11, 2019

Dowlut-McElroy T, et al. - Researchers performed this randomized, double-blinded, controlled trial to assess the need for estrogen for treatment of prepubertal labial adhesions. Lateral traction with topical estrogen or topical emollient was applied in prepubertal girls ages 3 months to 12 years with labial adhesions. Among the 43 girls enrolled, 38 (88%) completed the study. Treatment with lateral traction and topical emollient or topical estrogen led to a decrease in labial adhesion severity. However, topical estrogen displayed significantly greater effect.
