Arthritis Research & Therapy Feb 03, 2018
Hong X, et al. - In this study, the authors aimed to ascertain the short-term and long-term effects of immunoglobulin G4-related sialadenitis (IgG4-RS) in patients treated with glucocorticoids and steroid-sparing immunosuppressive agents. They also evaluated the secretory function, serological and radiological changes in salivary glands and estimated the utility of serum IgG4 level as an indicator of disease activity. Results confirmed that the glucocorticoid and steroid-sparing agents when combined together could be effective for restoring salivary gland function and, treating IgG4-RS. It was determined that the disease activity could be predicted by the serum IgG4 levels.
