Treatment for nicotine use disorder among Medicaid-enrolled adolescents and young adults

Chadi N, Rodean J, Earlywine JJ, et al. - Given high rates of tobacco use in youth, researchers investigated the extent to which evidence-based treatment with counseling and pharmacotherapy is received by adolescents and young adults with nicotine use disorder. A vulnerability to nicotine’s addictive properties is especially noted in adolescents and young adults. A danger to the decreasing use of tobacco that has been observed over the decades is the growing popularity of e-cigarettes, the use of which foretells the transition to combustible cigarettes among adolescents and young adults.
