Trauma management therapy with virtual-reality augmented exposure therapy for combat-related PTSD: A randomized controlled trial
Journal of Anxiety Disorders Jan 30, 2018
Beidel DC, et al. - Researchers performed a randomized controlled trial of Iraq and Afghanistan veterans and active duty military personnel with combat-related posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) to compare the efficacy of Trauma Management Therapy (TMT; Virtual reality exposure therapy (VRET) plus a group treatment for anger, depression, and social isolation) to VRET plus a psychoeducation control condition. Results confirmed the utility of VRET as an efficacious treatment for combat-related PTSD. However, VRET alone did not result in optimal treatment outcomes across domains associated with PTSD.
