Transversus abdominis plane block vs port-site local anaesthetic infiltration in laparoscopic excision of endometriosis: A double-blind randomized placebo-controlled trial
BJOG: An International Journal of Obstetrics and Gynaecology Oct 18, 2018
Kargar R, et al. - For reducing postoperative pain following laparoscopic excision of endometriosis, researchers assessed the efficiency of laparoscopically-guided transversus abdominis plane block (LTAP) vs port-site local anesthetic infiltration (LAI). From December 2015 through July 2016, they randomized participants to receive port-site infiltration with bupivacaine and placebo LTAP, placebo port-site infiltration and LTAP with bupivacaine, or placebo port-site infiltration and placebo LTAP. In this work, postoperative pain reduction was achieved with both LTAP and LAI vs placebo. LTAP and LAI were not different regarding efficacy.
