Transvaginal round-infundibulopelvic ligament colposuspension after vaginal hysterectomy in high-grade uterovaginal prolapse: 11-year outcome
European Journal of Obstetrics & Gynecology and Reproductive Biology Jun 19, 2020
Ekici MA, CetinC, Kayar B, et al. - Researchers conducted a retrospective case–control study analyzing patients’ medical records and evaluating gynaecological examinations over 11 years of follow-up in order to describe the long-term outcomes of transvaginal round-infundibulopelvic ligament colposuspension after vaginal hysterectomy in cases with stage 3–4 uterovaginal prolapse. Analysis was performed on data from 143 patients who underwent transvaginal round-infundibulopelvic ligament colposuspension after vaginal hysterectomy. Outcomes suggest that transvaginal round-infundibulopelvic ligament colposuspension during vaginal hysterectomy reduces the rate of postoperative apical prolapse in patients with high-grade uterovaginal prolapse indicating this strategy to be an effective and useful method for these cases.
