Transubclavian approach: A competitive access for transcatheter aortic valve implantation as compared to transfemoral
Catheterization and Cardiovascular Interventions Jan 23, 2018
Amat-Santos IJ, et al. - This study involves analysis of major outcomes of transubclavian (TSc) and transfemoral (TF) approaches for transcatheter aortic valve implantation (TAVI). The goal was to find out if both the approaches present comparable major outcomes according to current evidence. Findings suggested that TSc approach may serve as an alternative route to TF approach. Furthermore, researchers observed that the TSc approach may even be a competitive one in certain patients with increased risk of femoral injury.
