Transradial approach for left ventricular endomyocardial biopsy

Canadian Journal of Cardiology May 24, 2018

Choudhury T, et al. - Researchers evaluated the safety and feasibility of left ventricular endomyocardial biopsy (LV-EMB) via a transradial approach in a multi-center registry. Among one-hundred and two patients included in this study, the occurrence of mild or moderate radial artery spasm was noted in 12 (12%) patients but only 1 (0.98%) patient required conversion to femoral access due to severe spasm. Overall, a high procedural success rate was reported in a population of patients undergoing transradial LV-EMB. An excellent safety profile was also demonstrated as neither access site related complications nor major complications (pericardial tamponade, life-threatening arrhythmia, cerebrovascular accident or death) were reported in these subjects.
