Transoral robotic surgery for squamous cell carcinomas of the posterior pharyngeal wall
European Archives of Oto-Rhino-Laryngology Nov 12, 2017
Lallemant B, et al. - This study was conducted to examine the efficacy of transoral robotic surgery (TORS) for squamous cell carcinomas (SCCs) of the posterior pharyngeal wall. As per the outcomes, TORS was found to be a treatment solution for selected posterior pharyngeal wall SCCs. For early pT1 lesions, it gave a possible alternative to medical treatment and was often the only remaining curative solution in patients previously treated with radiotherapy. A tissue reconstruction by forearm free-flap could be indicated in cases of bulky resection, or when there was a past medical history of radiotherapy.
