Transfer of abductor hallucis tendon combined with scarf osteotomy vs single scarf osteotomy in moderate to severe hallux valgus deformity: A comparative retrospective cohort study
BMC Musculoskeletal Disorders Oct 30, 2019
Xiong Y, et al. - Whether improved outcomes in moderate to severe hallux valgus (MSHV) could be obtained with the transfer of the abductor hallucis tendon combined with scarf osteotomy (TAHTCSO) mode vs the single scarf osteotomy (SO), was investigated in this retrospective cohort study including 73 patients (92 ft) with MSHV. Treatment through TAHTCSO and through SO was received by 36 (45 ft) and 37 (47 ft) patients, respectively. The participants were examined during a 24-month follow-up, both clinically and radiographically. According to the findings, TAHTCSO was identified as a good alternative for MSHV as it had sufficient maintenance of the correction and improved functional performance, though it did not provide a better outcome for MSHV vs SO.
