Transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation and placebo analgesia: Is the effect the same for young and older individuals?

Daguet I, et al. - Researchers herein compared the placebo response induced by sham transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation (TENS) between young and older individuals, using an experimental heat-pain paradigm. Older individuals vs young adults demonstrated larger placebo analgesia. An influence of age on placebo analgesia was shown.
