Transcriptomic profiling identifies a DNA repair-related signature as a novel prognostic marker in lower-grade gliomas
Cancer Epidemiology, Biomarkers & Prevention Sep 27, 2019
Zeng F, et al. - As DNA damage repair is mainly associated with radioresistance and chemoresistance in gliomas, limiting the therapeutic efficacy of radiotherapy and chemotherapy, researchers sought for high-efficiency DNA damage repair-related risk signature that may assist prognosis prediction in lower-grade glioma. Two independent datasets of the Chinese Glioma Genome Atlas (CGGA, 172 samples) and The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA, 451 samples) were used to develop and validate the signature. This signature was identified as an independent and powerful prognostic biomarker in lower-grade glioma. It has utility for distinguishing the prognosis of patients. Short survival time was observed for patients with a high-risk score. Further subdivision of patients with distinct survival was made when the score was combined with the IDH mutation status. As per the functional analysis of associated genes, signature-related biological process of cell cycle and DNA repair was observed.
