Transcranial MRI-guided high-intensity focused ultrasound for treatment of essential tremor: A pilot study on the correlation between lesion size, lesion location, thermal dose, and clinical outcome
Journal of Magnetic Resonance Imaging Nov 10, 2017
Federau C, et al. - This pilot study was performed to determine the relationship between lesion size after ablation, thermal dose, and clinical outcome in the transcranial MR-guided high-intensity focused ultrasound (tcMRgFUS) treatment of essential tremor. The researchers found a good correlation between the size of the lesion, the thermal dose, and the clinical outcome among patients treated for essential tremor with ablation of the ventral lateral posterior thalamic nucleus (VLpv) with tcMRgFUS.
