Transcatheter or surgical aortic valve replacement in patients with advanced kidney disease: A propensity score–matched analysis
Clinical Cardiology Nov 30, 2017
Doshi R, et al. - This study tested the presumption that transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR) is associated with better in-hospital outcomes compared with surgical aortic valve replacement (SAVR) in patients with advanced kidney disease. SAVR vs TAVR was found to be related to higher mortality and higher periprocedural complications in patients with advanced kidney disease. Therefore, benefits of TAVR could be extended in patients with advanced kidney disease who cannot undergo surgery.
