Transcatheter embolotherapy of pulmonary artery aneurysms as emergency treatment of hemoptysis in Behcet patients: Experience of a referral center and a review of the literature
Internal and Emergency Medicine Mar 27, 2018
Voiriot G, et al. - An inquiry was set up with regard to the efficacy of transcatheter embolotherapy of pulmonary artery aneurysm (PAA) in individuals with hemoptysis that complicated the course of Behcet’s disease. It was determined that Behcet’s disease-related hemoptysis was primarily attributed to PAA. Hence, data recommended the consideration of transcatheter embolotherapy as the first-line emergency treatment for PAA-related hemoptysis, alongside the immunosuppressive regimen. It was found probable that hemoptysis could recur in half of the cases, involving preferentially a bronchosystemic arterial mechanism.
