Trabeculotomy ab interno with the Trab360 device for childhood glaucomas
American Journal of Ophthalmology Nov 22, 2019
Areaux RG, Grajewski AL, Balasubramaniam S, et al. - In eyes with childhood glaucomas, researchers conducted this multicenter retrospective interventional case series to report outcomes and complications of trabeculotomy ab interno utilizing the Trab360 device (Trab360; Sight Sciences, Menlo Park, California, USA). Eyes with glaucomas in childhood that underwent Trab360 was assessed with at least 3 months of follow-up. Participants in the study were 41 patients (46 eyes). In 67.4% of eyes, success was achieved. The effectiveness of Trab360 parallels literature on other angle surgeries for glaucoma in childhood. To prevent cyclodialysis, good surgical technique and caution in high-risk angles are important. The investigation is constrained by the imperfections inherent in any retrospective analysis. For treating childhood glaucomas, particularly primary congenital glaucoma, single-incision ab interno trabeculotomy with the Trab360 device is effective and safe.
