Trabeculectomy with mitomycin-C: Outcomes and risk factors for failure in primary angle-closure glaucoma
Journal of Glaucoma Feb 14, 2018
Romero P, et al. - The long-term tonometric outcomes of trabeculectomy were evaluated in this trial among patients with primary angle-closure glaucoma (PACG). Intraocular pressure (IOP) in PACG was noted to be effectively reduced due to trabeculectomy with mitomycin-C (MMC). In the mid-teens, long-term IOP reduction was achieved for target IOP levels. Higher risks of failure were seen to be related to the presence of a crystalline lens, lack of iridotomy and higher preoperative IOP.
