Towards a better understanding of adult idiopathic epidermal necrolysis: A retrospective study of 19 cases
Journal of the European Academy of Dermatology and Venereology Jun 09, 2021
Monnet P, Rodriguez C, Gaudin O, et al. - Researchers performed this retrospective study to better describe adult idiopathic epidermal necrolysis [IEN] and understand the aetiology. This investigation was carried out in 4 centres of the French national reference centre for epidermal necrolysis. Between January 2015 and December 2019, clinical data were obtained for the 19 adults hospitalized for IEN. IEN is a severe form of EN that affects young people. A thorough toxicologic investigation is required. Different pathways appear to be involved in IEN and DIEN, both of which result in the same apoptotic effect, but the primary trigger remains unknown.
