Topical benzydamine hydrochloride for prevention of postoperative sore throat in adults undergoing tracheal intubation for elective surgery: A systematic review and meta-analysis

Anaesthesia Evidence based | Feb 01, 2018

Kuriyama A, et al. - Benzydamine hydrochloride, a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug, was tested as a preventive against the development of postoperative sore throat in adults undergoing elective surgery under general anaesthesia, when applied topically. Furthermore, relative to lidocaine, benzydamine was also associated with a reduced incidence of postoperative sore throat.
