Topical and systemic retinoids for the treatment of genital warts: A systematic review and meta-analysis
Dermatology Dec 09, 2020
Oren-Shabtai M, Snast I, Lapidoth M, et al. - Whether retinoids have efficacy and safety for the treatment of genital warts, was determined by performing a systematic review of the relevant published evidence. Researchers analyzed all publications assessing topical or systemic retinoids for the treatment of genital warts, via a systematic review and meta-analysis. For systemic etretinate and for isotretinoin, the estimated complete response (CR) rates were 100% and 56%, respectively. No CR was induced by topical etretinate. Findings demonstrated effectiveness as well as safety of systemic retinoids in the treatment of genital warts, unlike topical retinoids.
