Tooth survival after surgical or nonsurgical endodontic retreatment: Long-term follow-up of a randomized clinical trial
Journal of Endodontics Aug 30, 2018
Riis A, et al. - Authors ascertained the long-term tooth survival following endodontic retreatment and if the outcome was influenced by the presence of intraradicular posts. Long-term tooth survival did not differ significantly after surgical or nonsurgical retreatment. Long-term tooth survival was not affected by the presence of intraradicular posts, but for teeth with posts, they noted more frequent extraction of those retreated nonsurgically because of vertical root fractures vs those retreated surgically. A smaller sample size and the use of outmoded retreatment techniques were the major limitations of the study.
