Tonsillectomy outcomes for coblation vs bipolar diathermy techniques in adult patients: A systematic review and meta-analysis
ENT Journal Mar 19, 2021
Alsaif A, Alazemi M, Kahlar N, et al. - Since there is no consensus on the optimal tonsillectomy technique in adult patients, researchers identified all studies contrasting the outcomes of coblation vs bipolar diathermy in adult patients undergoing tonsillectomy. Hemorrhage and postoperative pain were the primary outcomes. Return to theatre, analgesia, intraoperative bleeding, diet, tonsillar healing, and operation time were all secondary outcome measures. Six studies with a total of 1,824 patients were identified. According to this systematic review and meta-analysis, no significant differences were observed in outcomes for coblation and bipolar diathermy for adult tonsillectomy patients.
