Tonsillectomy in adults: Analysis of indications and complications

Torres BPG, et al. - An elucidation was performed of the surgical indications and most frequent complications of tonsillectomy. In addition, this study investigated if surgical suture of the tonsillar pillars exerted an impact on bleeding. It also examined the data of hospital stay and its significance for the control of complications. The most common and important complication was discovered to be bleeding. There was no statistically prominent correlation between bleeding and tonsil pillar suture or surgical indication. Tonsillectomy was not set as outpatient surgery at the time.
