Tonotopic organisation of the auditory cortex in sloping sensorineural hearing loss
Hearing Research Dec 15, 2017
Wolak T, et al. - Researchers ascertained how the tonotopic organisation of the human primary auditory cortex (PAC) responses were affected in the case of sensorineural hearing loss (SNHL). Findings illustrated the preserved patterns of large-scale tonotopic organisation in SNHL. It could be additionally refined following auditory experience, especially when the occurrence of hearing loss was prelingual. Enlargement and reduction of the extent of responses could be induced via SNHL in the topically organized auditory cortex.
