Tofacitinib as salvage therapy for 55 patients hospitalised with refractory severe ulcerative colitis: A GETAID cohort
Alimentary Pharmacology and Therapeutics Jun 24, 2021
Uzzan M, Bresteau C, Laharie D, et al. - In the present study, the researchers sought to assess the efficacy and safety of tofacitinib as rescue therapy in patients hospitalized for ulcerative colitis (UC) flare. They performed an observational and multicentre study with both retrospective and prospective collections in 14 GETAID centres. The sample consisted of 55 patients (49 with prior infliximab failure and 19 previously exposed to ciclosporin). Tofacitinib seems to be a promising treatment option in patients hospitalized with a UC flare, but it needs to be validated further in controlled trials. There were no venous thrombotic or major adverse cardiovascular events.
